Exploring Possible Careers
Use the following links to learn about the possible careers that you and your parents have said might be in your future. Please try these links first. If you can’t find the information you need there, then search for other sites.

Exploring Careers
We have been exploring potential careers this year, and will be going on a field trip to the University of California-Davis in April.
You are going to use this post for at least two Fridays, and maybe longer. You should leave comments three separate times because there are three assignments:
1) As part of that exploration, please do the assessments at Career Zone California. There are three of them. Write in the comments section at least three things you learn from them. Completing these assessments will take you at least one class period.
2) After you complete the assessments, go to California Reality Check to learn how much money you will need to earn the live the kind of lifestyle you want. Write in the comments at least three things you learn from this exercise.
3) After you complete that part, please revisit California Career Zone. You used this site earlier in the year to research possible jobs you might be interested in. Investigate more careers to see if you still are interested in the same jobs you were a few months ago, or in different ones. Keep in mind the things you have learned from the career assessments and from California Reality Check. Write in the comments section at least three things you learn from doing this research.

What Happens If The Levees Break In Sacramento?
Go to Sacramento Flood Maps. Click on the “Rescue” maps for the area you live in (probably either South Sacramento or The Pocket).
The areas in red will flood immediately. People who live in the yellow area will have a little time to escape.
Which color area is your home located in? What would you take with you if you only had a few minutes to escape the flood? Why?
The road in green are the safe ways to leave. Which road would you take?
If members of your family were in different places when the flood began, do you have a place where you would meet?

Natural Disaster Videos
Please go to CNN.
Go to the search box and type in the word “hurricane.” After it shows you the search results, click on “CNN Videos” at the top of the page. Then, pick any of the videos that look interesting to you. Watch videos for ten minutes, and write at least three things you learn about hurricanes. You can write them on a piece of paper or on the comment section of this post.
Next, do the same thing with the word “earthquake.”
