  1. The presence of bullying still exists today on this earth. This negative society has brought innocent childrens to their death. The tears of their parents has a never ending pain to their life. Society has made it difficult for people to achieve their dream that will give them happiness. Because of technology or social network has made bullying an easier opponent to bully one another to give that bully a mask. I do not only pity the person who is the one that is bullied but I also pity the bully because you will never know what his or her reasons are. Forgiveness is always the right thing to do. Now in the modern days, kids are bullied because of their looks and their style. Not only in school are they bullied but also in the public. Bully is the use of force, threat, aggression, and being hostile to one another. A bully puts others down, usually with their words and actions, judging them.

We shouldn’t let that person or those meaningless words hurt us more that a sharp knife stabbing our hearts. We fight it like those who fight cancer or fought in the war for the country, we should fight for ourselves; we need to be strong and hold back our feelings. We shouldn’t be the victim because we are ourselves, we don’t need to be someone else. There is so much more to know of yourself than you think. We should speak empowering words to bring us up to the light to shine on those who wants to fail us.

I see the tears of innocence.
I hear the cries of being alone.
I feel the pain of the words slapping our faces.

Like a sad abused dog who knows nothing. Their hearts clashing down like waves in the ocean to the deep ocean floor.

Now is the time to wipe the tears of sorrow.
Now is the time to come out from the darkness and show your beautiful faces.
Now is the time to smile with laughter of happiness.
Now is the time to listen to those who are kind and generous.

Like the great Michael J. Fox once said, “One’s dignity may be assaulted, vandalized and cruelly mocked, but it can never be taken away unless it is surrendered.” We will never lose to someone who has less power over us. Or like the great president Abraham Lincoln once said, “I would rather be a little nobody, then to be a evil somebody.” Being nothing means more than being someone by being evil deeds. If you are a victim of bullying, don’t keep it a secret. Get help. You deserve to know just how many people have been in your situation and are on your side of the battle.

I have a dream that one day everyone will sharing the same love.
I have a dream that one day everyone will learn to love themselves.
I have a dream that one day bullying will be stop forever.

  2. I HAVE A DREAM to Stop Animal Abuse

Animal abuse happens all over the world. It has been going on for hundreds of years and people have tried to stop it. Many people still enjoy this abuse that is happening and don’t respect the animals that they love or see the suffering the animals go through. Only you can make a change into this cause and don’t abuse your own animal and keep the love going. I see the dog and cats running around the streets searching for food and a home to live. I hear the animal’s cry when getting beaten by their owners that never loved them. I feel the pain that they go through while being abused for the fun of it. When I see their eyes in tears, boney bodies, and scared from people who try to help. This abuse is like a boxing match where they fight for the money and the fighters get nothing out of it but fame and a name for people to hear about. The smile of hope has been lied to, also given up to the streets. Now is the time because it has been years since they have been loved, clean, and healthy with a smile. Now is the time because its been years that these helpful animals been abused which they can change a persons life for a good cause. Now is the time because it has been years that these abused animals suffer for no good cause from the beginning since they were discovered. In the television show Pitbulls and Parolees they said,” these animals have never done anything wrong to us from the start and we people are going to treat them like nobody.” I have a dream that one day we can stop the terror that the animals face against their owner that abuse them. I have a dream that we humans and animals would come together and unite to live happily and not hear the word abuse ever again. I have a dream that we give hope and chances to these living creatures with our love like they are the humans and emotions. I have a dream that we the people should treat each other the way you want to be treated and it should also be the same with animals.

  3. The Taken Peace

When World War II broke out in 1939, the American economy lost its soul. Over ten million Americans were unemployed and the industrial capacity decreased. World War II has changed American society dramatically.
To this day, the commotion is still occurring. Walking up to a dry field filled with noises, I see battlefields covered with smoking corpses, I hear groans of the wounded and the cries of loved ones left behind. I feel the sorrow of one who longed for happiness and peace.
War has killed many of our love ones, War took away our happiness. War is a thief, like the great saying of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the President of the United States/Five Star General, “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.” War is like the black hole that sucks in everything you throw at it. War is the hole of death.
Now is the time to join hands and stop hatred. Now is the time to put an end to war before war puts an end to mankind. Now is the time to be patient and make a difference so we can unite all nations.
    I HAVE A DREAM
I have a dream that one day, we will all live together as neighbors. I have a dream that one day we will be able to laugh freely and not be worrying about when a bomb will hit. I have a dream that one day we can start a new chapter. I have a dream that war will come to an end. ONE DAY.
    I HAVE A DREAM.

  4. I Have A Dream

Citizens from around the world, I speak to you in this very moment about our weather, Mother Nature is a great, the powerful that we have abused and now, Mother Nature has been coming back at us with little revenged that effects us more and more. Everywhere around the world, through the years that every single lives that were lived and are being lived right in this moment, we live in our conditions that we fight and successfully survive, but now these days have gotten worst. From this day, we continue to struggle from out pasts, continue with our present, and prepare for out future to live the safest life we try to have, when we are in our homes built over our heads covering us the wind, covering us from the rain, covering us from the sun, and covering us from the pain. With that it helps me, you, them, everyone, it helps us cover what may occur here in our community now or later, it helps us cover the deadly storms but maybe it is not enough. Not only do we have to face the deadly storms, but also do we have to struggle to hold the stress of feeding our crops the water that Mother Nature has provided us. We struggle to take care of our community, in this topic, we struggle to help others from the horrifying floods throughout the countries, and we struggle to provide the most important, water. Not only do we struggle in these pathways to find good, we are the ones to cause them. We are the ones to prevent them, and we are the ones to live in them.

25 years from now, we will face worse, 25 years from now, we will face decrease of farm crops, 25 years from now, we will face fresh water problems, 25 years from now, we will face higher sea level, 25 years later, we will face hell entering the world. For the sake of everybody’s lives… 25 years from now, I see us facing worse drought. I hear the weather forecast man presenting the temperature of our future at over 110 degrees and never less! I feel the heat and gloomy air on my skin, weakening my health.

Today we stand in the dreadful sun when we were supposed to enjoy during these summers and now we are victims of experiencing them during what we call now and day, winters during the month of December. Global warming has become more of an enemy throughout the years that we live. Certain areas have had deadly storms tearing our hearts apart and taking in thousands of our loved ones and thousands of our homes away! We must act as a whole to give our medicine to Mother Nature to help us. We have caused this, our automobiles, our trash, our factories! We have caused this, every single person in this world, our ungratefulness! Take care of not only my mother nature but also our mother nature; give our mother her strength to give us a wealthier climate where we all fit.

Today, we stand, we continue living, and if we continue abusing our free sources of nature that we need in our everyday lives, people, think again! What will happen without it? Save the global warming, from fresh water to salt water, from green fields to moist forests, save our environment. For the sake of our lives, our animals, our children, help our environment improve our weather that we live in today!

  5. The Cage of Poverty

Today I would like to address the issue of poverty. Did you know that almost half of the world lives on less than two dollars and fifty-cents a day? And that at least eighty percent of humanity live on less than ten dollars a day. Southern Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa are the two places where there are the most without electricity. Money, in the US, is mostly used for building armies rather than helping the poor and starving in other countries.
I see the sad faces of those who cannot provide for themselves nor their family. I hear the agonizing cries of lonely starving children who seek food in trash piles. I feel the pain of those who’ve dealt with the unfairness of the world. Will you let these starving people die because they live in an area where they cannot support themselves? Will you let these poor starving children die because they don’t have parents or that their parents cannot do anything to support them? No, I wouldn’t. And you wouldn’t either.
Poverty is like a boomerang. If you disregard it and throw it away or forget about, it would fly back around to you. We must take actions, not just donating money. We must interact with them instead of secluding them. Now is the time to change the way we look at poverty. Now is the time to silence the cries of poor starving children. Now is the time to save humanity. A wise man once starved himself to save his people. Like he has once said, “Poverty is the worst form of violence.” I have a dream that one day little starving children all over the world would have at least three meals a day. I have a dream that poor can enjoy life without the restrictions of not being able to provide for themselves. I HAVE A DREAM that one day, the world would care less about using money on military needs and more on helping the poor and starving.

    1. Yang,

Great topic! Thank you for helping us think about poverty. I appreciate your simile, comparing poverty to a boomerang that comes around again.

      Coey

  6. i like how said that ” we all have a voice, but most of us choose not to use it.” this is very true and it makes me feel like I’m one of them people. Overall i like your ideas.

  7. I Have A Dream

I’m happy I get to speak to you today. In 2015 I was introduced to gang and gun violence through my own two eyes.

I’ve witnessed gang violence all through my community. The sad part is its through men and women that’s not that much older than myself. I see them throwing up gang signs with their hands. I see teens giving each other stares of death. I hear them hollering out their hoods or what they claim and it’s through their music. I hear the cries of mothers grieving over her child. I hear the gunshots out my window that comes from a distance. I hear the same question everyday. “Where you from? Whatchu bang?” I feel the danger in the area. I feel the tension every time I step out to an event and see different groups huddling up. “Through violence, you may ‘solve’ one problem, but you sow the seed for another.”
Gun violence has been a big problem in America. Some may feel like they need a gun for protection and some may say guns are the dilemma. I say guns are the problem. Now anybody can get a gun. That’s the problem guns are being passed down to people even teens that shouldn’t even get a hold of a gun. I say there’s many divergent ways to protect yourself. I say there has to be an age requirement with background check on the person who wants a gun. Giving guns to bad people is just a start to a bad world. I say can we change that? Aren’t you tired of the deaths of little boys and little girls, young men and young women, and mothers and fathers? These streets are as dangerous as a lion. No mother wants to bury her child so young do to gun and gang violence.
    SO I SAY I HAVE A DREAM.
I have a dream that one day in the valley of Sacramento, the bay area, down in Los Angeles , southeastern of Florida , and mid west Ferguson, and all over America that kids and teens can go out to events and not have to question if its safe or not. I have a dream that one day gangs and hoods will come together. “Violence is never, EVER, a choice man should make.” I have a dream that my little brother and sister will not run to the streets but will become flourishing. I have a dream that mothers and fathers wouldn’t have to bury their young children.
    I HAVE A DREAM
That one day young adults come to realize violence doesn’t solve violence and that there’s more than just gang banging and guns. I have a dream that we’ll be the generation to stop this madness. “Come together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”

    1. Monyia,

Your speech is emotionally and intellectually moving: a wake-up call for all of us to hear. Your simile “these streets are as dangerous as a lion” conveys how uncertain and violent gang-life can be. Your use of parallelism to finish the speech leaves us with an uplifting and inspirational thought. Great speech!

      Coey

    2. I really liked how you said ,”Come together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” Its very inspiring and its an encouragement to continue to be successful.

  8. our reasons

We walk..and continue to walk and begin to dream. Not only a dream but the American dream. Our roots are stretched out from the place that gave us birth and those same roots are the chains that hold us from ours dreams we came to believe. The soil to where our roots are implanted doesn’t feed us the education, equality, opportunities to a better life but toxic water that drains in innocent blood and misery. Our branches then look for the light, even if the light shines red, white and blue from the earth to the stars, we follow.just like every man has a story, our story is written in the palms of our hands. We came to see the soft hands of children sustaining a pencil, not filled in dirt with the hopes of selling a piece a gum in the streets. We came to see woman being confident to walk down the street without thinking ”am i next to be raped” and using their voice to speak out. We came to hear the joy of family, not the cries of mercy at the sight of the cartel. We came to hear the laughter of children not the cries of fear to be going into a war that isn’t theirs to fight. We feel unheard, we feel discriminated, we feel out of place, we have nothing in our home country but hopes of a new one.
It’s as if we have lost our dignity to the echoing words ”they’re bringing drugs ,they’re bringing crime they’re rapist and I assume, some are good people” said by Donald Trump and yet we came knowing that 43 of us are still missing, we are still waiting for the return of our real government, not the show they play for us.we are still in hopes to see a king, a righteous king not a puppet with strings that calls himself ”presidente”To bring us back home.
Now is the time to find a king, to return our government. Now Is the time to stop the echoing words that surround our looks.now is the time to keep families together, they are to provide us with our future generations. Now Is the time to stop leaving our home country and our love ones.
We have a dream for our roots to be drugged up and planted into the soil that shines the colors of red, white and blue.We have a dream to stop the spilling of blood that brings in bitterness, hatred and revenge into our lives. We have a dream to fulfill our own American dream.

    1. “Our roots are stretched out from the place that gave us birth and those same roots are the chains that hold us from ours dreams we came to believe,” this quote is magnificent, it truly speaks out to the audience. Your speech is speaking justice itself! Keep it up!

  9. Discrimination, the never-ceasing cycle of hate, is a universal stigma. A world-wide predicament for which there is no panacea. It seems as if no matter how many times a person fights for the rights and respect a human being deserves, there is no cure for the daily occurring injustices around the world. To be judged, characterized, and brought down is the life we lead, and no matter how bitter the journey, or however long the search, we conclude with no exits.

I see the everyday tyranny of unjustified conducts forge and mend innocent lives in unpreventable ways.
I hear the cries of agony from the discriminated and the grunts of satisfaction from the discriminators.
I share the pain of the persecuted and the sorrow of the suppressed that go unnoticed.

With each passing day, there is an addition to the pile of suffering given to each individual for the way they choose to live their life. However, I believe if we all choose to stand up for each other, as the whole we are, a difference can be made in the society we inhabit. I believe when we come together as a union, we will be able to appreciate the differences known to separate us. As a community, we should toil together, labor together, and exert ourselves to our fullest potential to reach the goal of universal harmony and equality. And only when that goal is reached, will we be able to live in a world where dreadful stories like that of Trayvon Martin, who was killed because the way he was dressed, Emmeline Pankhurst who was abused and insulted for being a woman who fought for rights, and Emmett Till who was murdered just because he was an African American, will no longer exist. It is in the dream of everyone to be judged solely by the “content of their character”, but to make that dream clairvoyant, we must communicate and join hands in each other’s endeavors until we can make true the aspirations of equality we hope to achieve.

And so I address the crucial issue of discrimination to strengthen the chain of courage within each of us and throw down a rope of hope for those brave enough to climb out of the abyss of which they’ve been accustomed to calling “home”. For those whom struggle to fight against the demeaning acts of fellow peers. For those who are powerlessly tied down at the feet of wrongdoings and cower in the face of oppression. For those who feel they cannot live life in accordance to their own free will. For those who’ve bore witness and been victim to the cruel deeds of discrimination. Let us all abide with the credence that everyone is born entitled to the rights and freedoms as another regardless of gender, race, beliefs or appearance. Let us join together in an intertwining band of unity to halt the unfair atrocity of injustice. Let us remember to not give up in shackles before the appeals of the prejudiced to think all is lost, but instead realize all is lost only when we, as a universal community, give up.

    1. “To be judged, characterized, and brought down is the life we lead, and no matter how bitter the journey, or however long the search, we conclude with no exits.” I have to say that this is very true, especially the part of no exits. Your idea of discrimination as a never ending cycle was also a very good comparison. Also the idea of you mentioning about sexuality. That’s one of the main discriminations that’s happening today.

    2. I like your viewpoint of discrimination. It is something that we cannot dodge, but something that we can climb out of. Good examples and great positive ideas!

  10. Throughout the world one thing that kids deal with the most is being bullied or being the bully. Causing a problem that has a negative impact on kids, their past, presents, and futures. It can also, be the reason why kids struggle to live their lives. We shouldn’t allow the uncertainties of unwanted children to be taken by the power of bullies. Especially from educational walls to the anonymous walls of cyberbullying. Walls are to be built on and not to hold on to any grudges, to help the innocence of a child to be safe and free to express themselves, and not to be caged in by the sense of oppression that comes from bullies. These children and teenagers are the key to our future, and the future to our future fleshes. I can hear the silence of the ones being bullied; I see silence by looking at one child’s crystal clear eyes, by the mumbles in their voices, as if a new born child was trying to speak. One day, students will be able to stand up for themselves, and for one another. That students will be able to ignore the immaturity around them and seek reality instead. One day, children will be able to acknowledge their own intelligence by keeping their heads held high. As they once said, pulling someone down will never help you reach the top. That children should be able to live a free life, due to being bullied and harassed. Everyday students are being bullied into silence, and are afraid to speak up for themselves, not only that but to their own bullies. We all hope that these new human existence will help us determine the characters of our future children’s. Now is the time to show that kids aren’t nothing when it comes to hurtful words. Now is the to teach our children that not only one voice can make a difference but 2 can. We all want the best of each others to gain the power to rise up against the ones who are being put down. We all want happiness and joy fullness to flow through each and one of us that are being bullied. Not everyone is perfect, not even an image of imperfections is. Society creates an imperfection of untruthfulness, now is the time to end and reconstruct ourselves. Our society tends to shame and ignore the ones with imperfections. I have a dream that one day kids would be strengthened with believing in themselves, to be courageous within their own flaws, courageous enough to face their bullies. More importantly, to be able to forgive themselves by giving each other forgiveness. I have a dream that one day children’s will not be captivated by the hatred of others and themselves. Like the famous artist Demi Lovato says, “Now I am a warrior, now I’ve got thicker skins, and I’m stronger than I have ever been.”

    1. I like the idea of you saying that bullying is the reason why kids struggle to live their lives. I have to say that I agree; that maybe that’s why people act the way they do.

        1. ” Like the famous artist Demi Lovato says, “Now I am a warrior, now I’ve got thicker skins, and I’m stronger than I have ever been.” “

    2. Your speech is spectacular! Dag xwb. I like it when you use the famous artist quote, “Now I am a warrior, now I’ve got thicker skins, and I’m stronger than I have ever been.” Dag Xwb.

  11. That was amazing! Wow! I love your use of metaphors to describe what we should hear and feel and not the reality of it.. Great job

  12. I Have A Dream

In Iraq and Syria there is a group known as ISIS, a major group of extremists. They are commonly known for bombings around the world, kidnappings, and be-headings. In recent years, ISIS has done at least 60 terror attacks in 20 different countries. These attacks alone killed around 1160 people and injured more than 1700. This group has also been linked to the 9/11 attack on the World Trade center in New York City.

I see news reports talking about the latest tragic thing that ISIS has done.
I hear death cries of men, women, and children as they are being punished by ISIS.
I feel sorrow for the ones that die or are tortured by the extremists of ISIS.

ISIS is as deadly as the plague that killed so many lives long ago.
ISIS is like a tsunami that attacked earth killing innocent lives.

Now is the time we fight for what is right.
Now is the time to be prepared for any future problems.
Now is the time we do what is best for the people of this country.

Like the great John F. Kennedy once said, “Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind.”

I have a dream, that one day people would stop taking each other’s lives as well as their own.
I have a dream, that one day we will be at peace with the rest of the world.
I have a dream, the world will become one and fight together to end hatred between rival countries.

    1. I enjoyed your figurative language: “ISIS is as deadly as the plague that killed so many lives long ago” it’s deep and reflects on our past. Furthermore, your repetition of “ISIS” makes your topic stand out very clearly, great ideas !

    2. I really like your simile, “ISIS is like a tsunami that attacked earth killing innocent lives.” overall, great speech , good job bubbles 😀

  13. China, origin of the Hmong people. The Chinese and Hmong were enemies that fought over property and for equal rights, ( Chinese controlled Hmong, treated them like outcasts, murder without reason, and refrain them from liberty). Starting from “Txiv Yawg”, he was the first Hmong leader who led an army that went to war with the Chinese. After his defeat, they were again under Chinese rule. Hmong people were on the run for their life. During the year 811 AD, Cha Peng Cheng Cho ( Tsab Pej Ceeb Coj) led another Hmong army after Txiv Yawg, and had another defeat. Mostly all wars that Hmong went to, they would lose because of betrayal instead of helping each other, no cooperation or courage. After that they ran from places to places, Hmong finally reached to Laos. Laos gave them good start on their life but yet the Vietnamese dislike them, so they attempt decided to killed all Hmong people. In 1975, General Vang Pao, led another army of Hmong people to war. He accomplished his goals to bring Hmong people to Thailand or any other liberated countries with the help of France. The French agreed to bring the Hmong people to the United States if the war was won. They won and Vang Pao became Hmong’s leader. He passed away in January 6, 2011.

6 years ago, our General Vang Pao has passed away, he brought us Hmong people here to freedom and pride . In our history, we destroyed our own blood and fought each other. We ran from places to places and to the country Laos. We took each other for granted and disrespect each other.

Today I found you, my people, today i found you. We immigrate to different states, countries and cities influenced by the modern world. Our future that the elders who create for us are fading away because of hatred that is still going on. After our General Vang Pao has passed away we loss control of our society again. The disrespect and the sins that are deep inside us makes foe that we don’t want. Our culture is like a bird who just start flying and be recognized to others, because the way how we treat each other, unfair and disgraceful. We do not need a powerful leader to guide us, we all have one inside guiding us.

My Hmong people, my Hmong people why can’t we embrace each other’s arms? Why can’t we love each other like siblings? Why can’t we keep building our religion and our culture? Like the great speech of Martin Luther King, “ to spray together, to struggle together…” Let’s bring it together! appreciate each other, Let the sunshine to the country of Laos, let the sunshine to the people of Thailand, and let sun shine to all of you in the United States. Let it shine wherever you end up in the world.

I see the image of our destiny, full of respect, and the passionate culture of ours. Keep it strong and brave! Love what’s near us, and the chase of love. Now is the time to respect our neighbors, friends, and families. Now is the time to put down the hatred. Let’s continue our culture and make it known! No of tears of frustration, but tears of satisfaction.

I have a dream that one day we will put our hands together and embrace the love of joy. I have dream that one everyone will know us as Hmong, not any other race. I have a dream that respect will go up to the hills of Laos, the mountain of Thailand, and all states of the United States! At last! my Hmong people! Don’t disappoint me and yourself and most importantly our culture. Keep in mind of our pride, the pride of Hmong and appreciate it all! Thank you!

    1. Nice!! very touching. I like how you include the culture of the hmong people and the difficulties the hmong people have been through.

      1. I like the history you added to bring it all together

I agree with you pang. I like how there was history to bring it all together

    2. Your speech is very nice and touching. I like how you include Hmong’s general, Vang Pao, and how great of a leader he was to the hmong people.

    3. I like how you added Martin Luther King Jr.’s quote/speech into your poem, because it connects to your topic of your speech, and can you elaborate on your simile, “Our culture is like a bird who just start flying and be recognized to others, because the way how we treat each other, unfair and disgraceful” ?

      1. Thank you , Magnolia . That means that our culture wasn’t strong as much as back then because now a days we put our culture behind .

    4. Great Job Der! Your speech is very affecting and heart warming, especially when you stated “I have a dream that one day we will put our hands together and embrace the love of joy.” It made me think back a little more and I really REALLY hope that one day it will come true! 🙂

    5. I like how you used Martin Luther Kings quote. I also like how you compared the Chinese culture to birds, but try and explain what you mean. (:

    6. I appreciate your dream speech because I can relate to it. Also like how you use your Hmong history knowledge from Hmong class.

  14. Bullying of Children

Throughout the world, bullying has become an everyday issue. Children internationally are bullied, some, to the point of suicide. More than70%of adolescents are bullied everyday.
People say that this harassment is “apart of life”. They say that it’s just “tough love”. What they don’t know is that the torture of a bully shreds their self-esteem, and bulldozes their voice.
I see a bully hovered over a child, fist held high. I hear terrified screams of plea. But, I feel change.
We will overcome this this catastrophe of humans treating other humans like they’re less than gum on the bottom of our shoe. Not hurtful words, nor violent threats will stop our determination to break free from the chains of vicious bullies.
Now is the time to blossom like spring flowers. Now is the time to hear each and every powerful voice of bullied victims.
I have a dream that these children feel loved and appreciated by all.
I have a dream that they will be accepted for the beautiful voices they have.
I have a dream that bullying will end.

    1. Nikye,

You’ve written a sparse, yet beautiful speech, highlighted by poetic comparisons and vivid images. Well-done!

      Mr. Coey

  15. Bullying

Let me ask everybody a question. When a fight breaks out what does everybody do? Now let me ask everybody another question when has it ever been okay for people to pull out their phones and record?

In our day and age you wouldn’t see a student get shoved into a locker or being picked up and placed into a trash can head first. No in our day and age you see people getting pressured into fighting or u see people getting publicly humiliated or outed. In our day and age the solitude of our homes are even jeopardized because of when the victim of the bullying tries to console into an adult but, sometimes it doesn’t work like that instead of going to an authoritative figure and getting the problem solved then go right to the source. And what i mean by that is sometimes parents tell their children to fight back and that is never the answer.

I am here today to tell friends and family that it has become a naturally occurring thing that has crept up in our society for many ages.We as a society should help other to speak out against bullying. We as a society should tell people that it is never okay to hid behind a camera when a fight breaks out. But we as a society and a community should also try and establish the trust that people of giving us back. because sorry to say this but the trust has been broken. There is a saying that states “ It takes years to get trust, seconds to break, and forever to repair. And as a community I think we can fix the brokenness of trust. Because in truth have you ever had somebody come to you and tell you that they are being bullied?

I have a dream that one day we can all go hand and hand and face bullying together. I have a dream that one day people will put down their phones and stop the fight that they were about to record. I have a dream that one day people can go to there families and speak out about them getting bullied. I have a dream that one day we as a community can say that bullying was a thing of the pasted.

And hopefully this dream comes true but it can’t if we as a whole can’t do anything about it.

    1. I like how you start your speech with a few questions, it’s a really nice way to make the readers think about your topic 🙂

    2. I liked your imagery and I liked how you used the quote,”It takes years to get trust, seconds to break, and forever to repair”, because it really does relate to the topic of bullying. Vocab game too strong.

    3. DJ,

I appreciate the image of “putting down our phones” because that is what we see now in response to bullying and school violence. What do you think it would take for people to be more compassionate?

      Coey

  16. Yer Vang

    I have a dream

Greetings my hmong people. I stand here today in above all eyes to contemplate on what had been keeping my mind blank for all these years. My hmong people, where are we at? Who are we? Why are we here? What are we doing? My hmong people, as you all know, every culture in the world has their own nation and government, their own laws and rules, but we were an exception. Where do we fit in? Which nation was it that we once called ours, but lost to during the war that separated and thrown us to many parts of the world. Yes, we have thrived from our poor lives into who we are today, but we didn’t succeed at all. About 41 years ago, our heroic dedicated General Vang Pao stood up in war in Laos, but lost the war after the communists seized power in Laos. Our hmong people, uneducated and inexperienced was never ready for this war craze that dragged us dull-witted and led us to evaluation between families, friends, and love ones. Awfully, we then were separated. We have adapt to a new civilization. That has changed everything. We have been speaking the languages that doesn’t convey to us. I see a hmong girl attempting to speak out a simple hmong word, but never know what it indicates more than the foreign language that we are temporarily speaking right now. Our hmong has tried new ways of living by bringing disasters to our hmong world (drugs and murderers). Because each of us are different in statuses, we were greedy, we brought jealousy toward each other and hatred approaches. Our names were always on TV. We result as trash to the world. We are ugly in people’s eye. We are known as losers. I noticed the lives of us here in modern time living freely, while I sense cries of the poor hmong people who are still locked up in the mountain pleading to get out of starvation and hunger, and a poverty-stricken life. Why are we all separated? I hear the voice of oneself urging to speak up to us that it is time to stop our discrimination and build back our love for each other. I feel the wind blowing from the east, our nation is calling, that it is time to get our own nation back, it is time to fight back with our brainpower, but we will stop all the negativity toward each other.

Like the great wind blowing our souls back to our homes, now is the time to stop our prejudice toward each other. Now is the time to stop our jealousy, we are brothers and sisters, we are one of a kind, we are together, and for all, we are equal. Now is the time to stand out, to fix back our problems, to be free like how we used to be. Like our devoted General Vang Pao has says “We will stop our sins and come back and fix our hmong family.”

I have a dream that one day we will realize our sins and come back together as one nation.
I have a dream that one day we will stop the prejudice and unmeaningful act of each other.
I have a dream that one day we will overcome our jealousy and hatred of each other.
I HAVE A DREAM that one day we will get our own nation back and realize that WE ARE ONE AND UNITED NATION.
LET’S LOVE EACH OTHER AGAIN OUR HMONG PEOPLE!!

    1. Yer,

“Better recognize your brother, everyone you meet.” — John Lennon

I very much hear your plea for compassion and understanding. I hope your dream becomes a reality, not just for the Hmong, but for all of us.

      Mr. Coey

    2. I like your connections to the Hmong culture. It’s very touching to read how they need to reunite again.

    3. wow. well done, yer ;). i like how you would still put the historical context in your speech by each paragraphs. you included lots of information and your imagery are very touchy, for an example, “while I sense cries of the poor hmong people “, its emotional yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, love your speech <3

  17. Have we improved or degraded?

Modern industrialization has positive and negative effects in our lives. Industrialization helps our lives become more efficient in some ways. For example before the industrial revolution in the 1700s, humans had to make, grow and supply themselves with goods that they need. Now we have factories that mass-produce goods. We see this growth as an improvement but in my opinion this growth is a disaster.

Industrialization killed many of lives whether it was human beings or not. If this is what independence is now then we have degraded. I see green flourishing wildlife turn in to gray dull building as we “improve”. I see human flesh being replaced by metallic human arms. Nowadays it may not be human deaths during industrializing but millions are still dead from it. I hear those horrifying cries of death seeking to be relieved. I feel the sorrow of those who are in pain and who are witnessing these mass murders.

Harmful substances are escaping from man made volcanoes that are dormant but near eruption kills million of innocent lives. Even if no one notices these screams and cries for mercy or justice, I do. There are substances released from automatic rolling metal chariots are breaking our barrier from the blazing red giant as if it was glass. The whole in the bright blue sky will allow the flames from the red giant to engulf even the coldest corners of Earth.

Now is the time to fix this horrific phenomenon caused by no other. Now is the time to join hands with anyone because one can’t make a difference alone but as a group we can have an impact the size of Jupiter. Now is the time to change our ways for the better good. For us, nature and all those living in our wonderful blue planet. I have a dream that humans will restore our blue planet to its rightful glory. I have a dream that the human race wouldn’t be competitive like animals hungry for acknowledgement. I have a dream that we will truly become one race and cooperate with each other as family.

    1. Chouyie,

This is a one-of-a-kind speech given that you are writing about modern industrialization. It is important that we think about the implications of our modern society and the environmental consequences our lifestyles can have on the planet. Great ideas, Chouyie!

      Mr. Coey

    2. You were able to come up with a strong point and back it up with strong details. In addition, your imagery is very vivid and unique. Excellent speech that strides clearly and powerfully.

    3. “I see green flourishing wildlife turn in to gray dull building as we “improve”. I see human flesh being replaced by metallic human arms. Nowadays it may not be human deaths during industrializing but millions are still dead from it. I hear those horrifying cries of death seeking to be relieved. I feel the sorrow of those who are in pain and who are witnessing these mass murders.” That was a very strong supporting detail of how you say we degraded. I have to agree that due to industrialization, we’ve grown very lazy.

    4. ‘ Horrifying cried of death ‘ this imagery give me chills .I like how you use imagery/ metaphor . Great speech

    5. Wow Chouyie! I’m surprised how you take your experienced of the industrialization in history into a dream speech!

  18. I Have A Dream

It’s hard to imagine how someone, who can be financially stable, then lose everything and become homeless the next day. All over the world, we may know someone, see someone, or maybe even have been through it ourselves, that is homeless and financially unstable. Well, how do people end up on the streets not having a home to live in? Many people become homeless due to job losses, unemployment, unable to pay bills, and more.

I see the struggles of the homeless trying to survive day by day.
I see the women praying that one day her life would go back to the way it was.
I hear the homeless talking to each other about how everything changed their life in a snap.
I hear crying from a man who though his life was going great until an obstacle happened.
I feel the sorrow of the sick homeless who can barely stand on his/her feet, getting ignored by people when he/she just wanted help.
I feel the sadness of the homeless man who is struggling to find food for his starving children.

Now is the time to help all of the homeless.
Now is the time to prevent others from becoming homeless.
Now is the time to end homeless for once and for all.

Like the amazing and inspiring Helen Keller, an American author, political activist, and lecturer, who was blind, deaf, and mute, said, “I am only one, but I AM ONE. I cannot do everything. But I can do something.” Meaning that although the homeless population is a huge amount, one person helping a homeless person, makes a huge difference and helps end homelessness little by little. With us all helping the homeless, the world will become a better community and society where no one is short of money and has a roof to live under. With us all helping the homeless, there wouldn’t be people sleeping out of the streets, instead there will be people sleeping in a house. Where it is comfortable and warm. And with us all helping the homeless, one day homelessness will end. Homelessness will come to an end and homelessness will be disappear like an extinct animal.

I HAVE A DREAM that the homeless population will decrease tremendously.
I HAVE A DREAM that everyone would be able to afford a house, food, and important essentials in order to live a stable life.
I HAVE A DREAM that one day homelessness will come to an end.

    1. The imagery you used to describe the struggles people have to persevere through without at choice was touching and portrayed to me a different view on the homeless.

    2. Magnolia,

This is an important topic your have chosen to write about, one that I hope we can think more about. I appreciate your image of the woman praying, and I think your allusion to Helen Keller not only informed us about her contributions, but also you used her words to inspire all of us to do something. That’s a great message to convey. Thank you!

      Coey

    3. Great Job Maggie! I love how you express the sorrow metaphorical imagery of the struggles of the homeless. Great Topic!

    4. wow! amazing. i love it ;). i like how you use Helen’s quote, a person can really make a huge difference i believe that too.

    5. Great job! I really like your dream speech. Since we have a similar topic, I feel like I can do better at my speech after after reading yours.

  19. An international issue women are dealing with in the world is sexism. In Africa, it’s okay for a husband to beat his wife if she does not do what she is told because the man is dominant in the relationship. In the Middle East in Saudi Arabia, women are not permitted to meet men outside of their family, they’re always a male family member chaperoning the women in public. Sexism is a larger problem than 100 million women missing in the world from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

I see a young girl in Colombia never getting an education because she has to take on a role as a mother by keeping the house clean and food prepared for her brothers while they are outside playing with friend or videogames. I hear women worldwide standing up for their equality from others. I feel women throughout the world getting some respect and men by their side agreeing.

Now is the time to put an end to sexual discrimination against women. Now is the time to stand against men being powerful in some cultures. Now is the time to fight for girl’s lives in Africa who is forced to be wives instead of enjoying their childhood. The simple words “girl” or “woman” is as toxic as poison in your mouth.

Like the courageous and outstanding Oprah Winfrey, an American media proprietor and talk show host, said, “I was raised to believe that excellence is the best deterrent to racism or sexism. And that’s how I operate in life.” Our nation needs to teach about sexism to everyone so we can have an understanding about this topic. Women’s need to project there voice for their rights and inspire others to do the same.
I have a dream girls will be as equal as boys. I have a dream women will have their own opinion instead of just agreeing with what a man says while standing behind him while he is speaking. I have a dream for person’s gender such as a female will not have a certain limit to their goal/dream.

    1. I like your last statement, “I have a dream for person’s gender such as a female will not have a certain limit to their goal/dream.”, its a very powerful statement of how women are oppressed in this society.

    2. I really like your quote. For example, “I was raised to believe that excellence is the best deterrent to racism or sexism. And that’s how I operate in life.” by Oprah Winfrey, because i believed in that same idea on what Oprah Winfrey said.

    3. very touchy, Dashay. ” I see a young girl in Colombia never getting an education because she has to take on a role as a mother by keeping the house clean and food prepared for her brothers while they are outside playing with friend or videogames. ” in this quote can refer to any other girls too, but i really like the way how you organize your concrete details.

  20. I HAVE A DREAM to Stop Animal Abuse

Animal abuse happens all over the world. It have been going on for hundreds of years and people have tried to stop it. Many people still enjoy this abuse that is happening and don’t respect the animals that they love or see the suffering the animals go through. Only you can make a change into this cause and don’t abuse your own animal and keep the love going. I see the dog and cats running around the streets searching for food and a home to live. I hear the animal’s cry when they get beaten by their owners that don’t love them. I feel the pain that they go through while being abused for the fun of it. When I see their eyes in tears, boney bodies, and scared from people who try to help. This abuse is like a boxing match where they fight for the money and the fighters get nothing out of it but fame and a name for people to hear about. The smile of hope that has been lied to and given up to the streets. Now is the time because its been years since they have been loved, clean, and healthy with a smile. Now is the time because its been years that these helpful animals been abused which they can change a persons life for a good cause. Now is the time because its been years that these abused animals suffer for no good cause from the beginning since they were discovered. In the t.v. show Pitbulls and Parolees they said,” these animals have never done anything wrong to us from the start and we people are going to treat them like nobody.” I have a dream that one day we can stop the terror that the animals face against their owner that abuse them.

    1. I agree with you Yihu. Animals are living things and they should be treated as human beings are well. They shouldn’t be abused.

    2. I really like your simile, “This abuse is like a boxing match where they fight for the money and the fighters get nothing out of it but fame and a name for people to hear about. ” and I also agree that animal abuse should be stopped. Good speech 🙂

    3. Great speech yihu, i like your use of imagery when you said “When I see their eyes in tears, boney bodies, and scared from people who try to help.” i can imagine a dog or something with tears in it’s eyes with it’s ribs sooo noticable to the eye. Good job 🙂

    4. very inspired. hope your dream will come true, and i believe in your dream too, for an example, ” I have a dream that one day we can stop the terror that the animals face against their owner that abuse them. ” every animals deserve rights like human too 🙂

  21. Water is an essential need to survive. It is important to our human body and one cannot work without it. But since April 2014 till now, the water in Flint, Michigan, has been causing health harm constantly. The pipes in Flint, Michigan were changed and since then, the water has not been clean. At about 6,000 to 12,000 children are at danger from drinking the dirty water, containing lead. These serious health harms are also diseases that put the people at large risk.

I see a community in chains of hopelessness. I hear the weeping tears of the unheard protesters, fighting for the changes they deserved. I feel the powerful flames inside of the innocent victims who have no other choice but to drink this filthy water.

This problem is as if we’re drowning in mud, dirt, and trash. Now is the time to be heard about this “small” matter that’s threatening the lives of thousands. Now is the time to shut down the injustice of our government who are unwilling to keep our water clean. Now is the time to fight for this long-term water crisis that can harm our people if we stall any longer.

Like the great President Obama said, “We, the people, still believe that every citizen deserves a basic measure of security and dignity.” These people in Flint, Michigan deserve and should receive clean water. If the changes are not done to help these people, then what really is there left to believe?

I have a dream that our community and society won’t continue being at risk. I have a dream that parents won’t continue dealing with the sickness of their children that’s caused by the water they’re drinking. I have a dream that our water will be clean for the wellbeing and protection of our people.

    1. Wow lisha! I never thought about it that way. I always take water for granted . I never thought of it being harmful when its polluted.

    2. i agree with john, “always taking water for granted”. Great speech Lisha! Your has made me think twice about wasting so much water while hundreds of thousands of people are out in need of water. Good Job 🙂

  22. Bullying has been a problem everywhere throughout the world and it has a huge negative impact on everyone from students to adults. No one is allowed to judge other’s cultures or how they look. This causes children in school to have insecurities about them and is allowing bullies to continue their vicious cycle of discrimination.
I see people are being judged by their skin color, how they dress and speak. I hear the silent cries of the children while insults and names are being thrown at them like knives. I feel angry because I could relate to them but I couldn’t stop all the bullying that is happening everywhere around the world.
Now is the time to teach children to be mindful of their comments. We need to be careful of what we say to others. Now is the time to teach children to accept each other despite their differences. Now is the time for everyone to stand up for him or herself and to not allow anyone to control over them. I have a dream that kids can be proud and confident of who they are. I have a dream that one day everyone can enjoy the happiness in life not the sorrow. I have a dream that one day students can walk down the hallway of courage and look in the face of the bullies and say. I’m not scared of you or your followers, bullying is over. Like the great anti-bullying actor and producer, Will Smith once said, “ Stop letting people who do so little for you control so much of your mind, feelings and emotions.”

    1. I liked how you said “Bullying has been such a huge negative impact on everyone from students to adults,” it truly emphasizes how deeply everyone is affected by bullying and how everybody has been treated poorly.

    2. Wow great speech jeremy! I really like your quote because even “I” sometimes let the people who do so little for me take me for granted. Awesome Speech 🙂

    3. I really like your metaphor and simile. For example, “vicious cycle of discrimination.” , “hallway of courage” , and “insults and names are being thrown at them like knives.”. Overall its an great speech.

  23. I am here today to talk you about bullying. Little do we know over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year. 17% percent of American students report being bullied two to three times a month or more within a school semester. One in four teachers see nothing wrong in bullying and will intervene only 4% of the time. Results of this cause 160,000 teens to skip school everyday and even drop out of school.

I can see the light of the victim slowly drowning into the depths of darkness. I can hear the silent whimper cry of the victim being lock inside the cage of desperation. I can feel the pain and depression hidden behind their smile. It is because this madness of bullying! Shall we leave it alone? Or shall we stand up and stop bullying together? That, my friend, is simple.
The answer is simple. We will put and end to bullying. Not tomorrow, not next year, not next lifetime, but now. Now is the best time to stop bullying. Getting bullied is like being cornered in boxing match fighting against Muhammad Ali. Getting bullied is like getting trampled on by twenty elephants. Getting bullied is like looking death straight in the face. Bullying shouldn’t exist or even exist as a word. We mustn’t let the victims wallow in the valley of despair. Every citizen deserves a basic measure of security and dignity. Teachers should help notice bullying and put a stop to it, before it’ll be too late to help save the victim from drowning in darkness. So please lend a hand. If not, wouldn’t that make you a bully?

    1. John!

Wow! Your imagery and metaphors are quite vivid and they evoke the dark desperation felt by the victims of bullying. Thank you for helping us to understand how isolating and hopeless it can feel. Also, I appreciate how you finish your speech by asking us to be responsible and help the victim. Great writing, John.

      Mr. Coey

    2. I loved the similes and the comparisons you used . Especially, when you said, “Getting bullied is like looking death straight in the face.”

    3. I really like your poem John! I especially love when you said, “It is because this madness of bullying!” because before that line, it seems like you were calm and then this line made your voice powerful. I also loved when you ended the poem with a question, very unique! 🙂

    4. I enjoyed your cold-hard facts in the intro! Furthermore, I enjoyed your quote, “Getting bullied is like getting trampled on by twenty elephants,” for some reason it made me chuckle…Overall, very nice, solid, and strong. Bold statements put into a very strong speech!

    5. Wow john i like how you add questions into your speech! i feel like it makes your speech sound much more “strong”. Well Done! 🙂

    6. oh my lord! so many imagery and metaphor!!!!!!! LOVE it john :). this imagery, ” silent whimper cry of the victim being lock inside the cage of desperation.” is very touchy and feels like being in jail, feel the sadness. ;(

  24. Exotic Abnormality
Since the beginning of time and throughout the globe, there has been acts of same sex marriage, commonly know as homosexuality. As human kind progressed, this supposedly abnormal idea appeared and became widely unaccepted and shunned on. It has been trampled on, infringed upon, and even discriminated.
However, similarly to you and me, the idea of homosexuality has the same inalienable rights to life, liberty, and ITS pursuit to happiness. The more it’s trampled on, the more it will arise. The more it is infringed, the more it will comply. The more it is discriminated upon, the more it will show pride.
Whether intentionally or unintentionally, we have imprisoned this idea; instead of embracing it, we have locked it away, holding the key to its cage closely and safely. We are too content with our current lifestyle and fear change and evolution. We are too narrow minded, afraid to explore the forbidden arts and the maleficent taboos. We are too selfish, not desiring changes for the better of others because we believe the others will become better, more civilized, and more advanced. We believe our ‘utopian society’ will crumble if we accept such a heretical idea.
However, we too are flawed, but are too ignorant to see our mistakes. The world has come to a halt, being blinded by the corrupt social medias: shouting WordStar whenever a black man gets shot by a white police officer, or when you become viral and famous by punching an old and innocent homeless in the face, and even when you’re taking selfies with your grandma during her funeral. When will we stop this nonsense? When will we begin to take action and solve the real issues at hand? When will we accept the idea of homosexuality? When will we become more diverse? When will we accept? When will we evolve?
Now! I believe that now is the time the time we free homosexuality from the shackles of discrimination. Now is the time that we accept their personal views and unique ideas. Now is the time that we allow this abnormal idea into our utopian society. Now is the time we free this idea, for this idea cannot free itself…Or will we never?

    1. I like your use of parallelism. For instance, “The more it is infringed, the more it will comply.” Overall i think it is an amazing speech! Great job Alex!

    2. I agree with your viewpoint on modern day society and i liked how you ended the speech with the question,”Or will we never?”

    3. You’re right! your speech is well organize, i like it. importantly, i like how you use your allusion, ” liberty” , and it fit in your speech. 🙂

  25. I Have a Dream

Racism is a way to make unwanted people the underdogs.
It is global every day and people are not happy and appreciated with the unthankful pleasure from the racist humans that are terrible and horrible. It’s gone ages to the point where we will not approve of this negativity from others.
Racism is the wrong way and doing to encourage people to change and be where they would not want to be.
We all matter, we do not like the feeling of suicidal and unaccepted respect into what color we are. We all matter, we want to be treated equally as everyone. We all matter, if being racism is the only thing you can do it then do not say it because we all matter, and will not accept being treated differently and poorly amongst one another. We want to be indestructible like no other, to be strong, to have strength, to rise like as one.
I see petition and furious signs about wanting equality.
I hear the rage from ages of ancestry towards discrimination received.
I feel the strength and integrity from within the color of the people.
I want happiness in the view of us, to be fair, to be equal, and to be one.
This nation, our nation, is the nation of hope in what we can accomplish as a team because there is no “I” in “Team.”
People that are racist are people that have no pride in others. People that are racist are people that do not care about other people and only see themselves as the union of the world, but what they do not see and care about is other people in this world, that need help in their life, that need support because they have too been criticize by these unfaithful people that should deserve this life and be executed for such aggressiveness and negativity they have upon another.
Racism is like going up stairs with no legs. It’s unpleasant to all others that are not able to keep moving forward, to keep achieving, to keep fighting. Being unable to go in the same path that others can makes us feel weak, makes us unhappy, unwanted, invisible.
Now is the time to realize that history is repeating itself everyday.
Now is the time to acknowledge that racism happens everywhere.
Now is the time to realize that the same things and same laws cannot change a person’s view of the world society.
I have a dream that every human being that is color should be equal to the whites, that everybody should be the same and not be a part of the discrimination.
I have a dream that humans can walk down the streets without being called upon about intelligence and stupidity.
I HAVE A DREAM that we all can eat together with no embarrassment and disgustingness of hatred upon one another.
Like the great well-known judgmental, bolded, legendary Abraham Lincoln, he once said, “in the defense of their country, seeing their property destroyed, their families insulted, and their lives endangered, their peoples injured, and seeing nothing in prospect that forebodes a change for the better.” -Abraham Lincoln.

    1. “We want to be indestructible like no other, to be strong, to have strength, to rise like as one.” That’s a very strong line. I like the parallelism in that.

      1. i agree with you , nathan . especially when you included , ” Being unable to go in the same path that others can makes us feel weak, makes us unhappy, unwanted, invisible. ” people shouldn’t have to feel this way .

    2. i Like how in the second paragraph you repeated we a lot in order to show that we’re all in this together, and we together have to find a way to fight racism.

    3. I agree with the part when ” racism is a way to make unwanted people the underdogs” because those that are racism sees themselves as better people.

    4. nice speech. i like how you said your similes “Racism is like going up stairs with no legs”, i don’t really get it but it grabbed my attention.

  26. The twenty-first century has lots of great values and teachings. In the twenty-first century we teach, “Don’t get rap.ed” rather than “Don’t rap.e”. The twenty-first century is where songs about rap.e culture can be nominated for a Grammy Award. The twenty-first century is where accused rap.ists can run to be president. The twenty-first century is where schools, families, and society teach young girls that their bodies are deemed to get harassed. The twenty-first century is where rap.e culture is influenced throughout every corner and crack of our society. The twenty-first century is where society teaches that rap.e happens because of the article of clothing the victim has on. However rap.e is never the victim’s fault. The twenty-first century is where instead of teaching young girls to accept their bodies they tell them that they are a wildfire that needs to be put out.
I see one out of six women carrying chains of agony around their ankles, and being dropped into the ocean of betrayal because after the rap.e they are seen as useless and tarnished. I hear silence because even after the rap.e the victim has their mouths taped shut because being the victim is more shameful than being the rapi.st. I feel scared because one out of six women are raped and I will live in everlasting fear wondering if I am that one. We are playing Russian roulette and a bullet is placed within every sixth shot.
Article five of the Declaration of Human Rights states “No one shall be subjected to cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment.” If this is so then why do only 2% of rap.ists ever go to jail? Why is it that even in the safest places such as school or church we are still turned away because of their views on rap.e culture?
We will not be satisfied until we are able to walk on the streets at any time of the day without having to hear noises or words that cling on to us because we are scared. We will not be satisfied until 2% of all rap.ists go to jail. We will not be satisfied until rap.e culture is abolished. We will not be satisfied until 107 is just a number and not the seconds that another American is sexually assaulted.
I have a dream that the chains tied to our feet can be broken and we can run again. I have a dream that we can finally rip off the tape around our mouth and be free at last. I have a dream that young girls’ bodies will no longer be portrayed as a danger sign by our schools, churches, and society.

    1. “I feel scared because one out of six women are raped and I will live in everlasting fear wondering if I am that one”i can connect to this because as a female in this corrupted society of ours i will forever be living my life in fear of becoming another statistic

    2. That was.. Wow! Your views of how rap.e gets singled out because of clothing or appearance is interesting. I also liked how you said you were scared. It adds a more connecting feeling of your views

    3. I enjoyed reading your speech
I liked your strong points about how society views rap.e and how r@pe culture is alive and makes it a threatening environment to live in

    4. your speech is very inspiring and i like how you encouraging people and having the power, and strength to make people stop this problem in our community.

  27. California, the golden state, the place we call home is one of the United States most idolized state known for its sunshine weather, lavishing Hollywood parties, and long warm days spent at the pier while another human being is clawing their way through a filthy rubbish bin in search of their next meal or hiding between two pillars of an empty church lot in search of privacy as they try to get another fix to escape not just the world around them that has shunned them from society-but from themselves and the brutal reality of what their lives have become.

So please enlighten me, once you’ve finished picking out a filter for your venti coffee that will soon be long forgotten, will you share the leftover change with the hunched over elderly human being with nothing but a dirty tossed out blanket to keep him warm? Or is it easier to look in another direction to prevent your guilt from consuming you? This ends and begins with us, we the youth of America have the opportunity to create awareness in our generation to this inhumane act of cruelty towards our fellow people. This ends and begins with us and whether or not we decide to take part of a movement greater than ourselves. As Mahatma Gandhi once said “The future depends on what you do today.” This ends and begins with us and what we as future citizens of the United States decide to make of our time here on Earth and whether or not will give basic human rights that has been revoked from them.
I see human beings hiding from police constantly on the move from place to place afraid of being arrested for ‘unsolicited loitering’. But when we kick these human beings with nowhere to go from one corner to the next what problem does this solve? I hear the snickers of bystanders telling human beings that this misery was brought upon them by themselves as if any human being whether it be physical or mental illness deserves such treatment. I can feel the gratefulness that radiates from a human being when they are given what is essentially nothing more than a piece of paper that they could’ve possibly went days without. Do not let your greed become wen must share our wealth with those who do not have even just a penny to their name, with those who sleep on hard, cold concrete. We have no right to shun a human being for not being as fortunate as one may be.

A soldier who once fought so proudly to protect this country with their life is shunned by the rest of society, isolated and labeled as crazy as they sleep in whatever shelter they can find. It’s as if they’re at war once more with their own people against them. A rubix cube is all they’ll ever be to you-complex and not important enough to spend time to work with and solve. It is far past the time we treat our fellow human beings as an impossible puzzle with missing pieces unworthy of our assistance. It is far past the time to easily expect their trust when all we ever did was isolate them from us as if they never existed. As Richard Linklater once said “No one is asking what happened to all the homeless. No one cares, because it’s easier to get on the subway and not be accosted”.

I feel I speak for many when I say I no longer believe we should be viewing this dire situation as a dream ,but a vision of an urgency of action to be taken against homelessness to be no more. I have a vision that places like skid row in Los Angeles will no longer be viewed as blocks of misery and homes to the outcasts of society but a monument to those who have fought their way out of that oppressive life and back into society where they belong. I have a vision that tent city will be torn down as they begin to be replaced by actual homes making them no longer a necessity, nothing more but an empty lot. I have a vision that we the future of America will not idly stand by and allow another fellow human being to become a statistic of unclaimed dead bodies. These people need more than just food they need medical help, they need easier access to rehabilitation centers, they need to be presented with opportunities to be accepted back into society.I have a vision that one day we the youth of America will grow old enough to see the day where this inhumane injustice will be nothing but a dark age of negligence. So we must join this battle against together this infestation of poverty for as Helen Keller stated “no one has become poor by giving” so what do we have to loose other than the chance to create a better future for homeless beings nationwide? As a team, i truly believe we can overcome this easily overlooked widespread oppression.

    1. i enjoyed the part where you said “We all have a voice, but most of us choose not to use it”. i felt like i connected to this so well and it made me think about how true this is and how different the world could be if we all just used our voice, good job!

    2. So please enlighten me, once you’ve finished picking out a filter for your venti coffee that will soon be long forgotten, will you share the leftover change with the hunched over elderly human being with nothing but a dirty tossed out blanket to keep him warm? Or is it easier to look in another direction to prevent your guilt from consuming you?” That made my heart move. This is fire!!

  28. “I Have a Dream” speech

My fellow friends and classmates, I came to tell about the injustice that happens to the innocent 20 to 30 million lives around the world. The injustice that happens to the 100,000s of women and teenage girls sold as sex objects in the valleys and cities in China. The injustice that happens to the little children sold as labor machines, even in this country.

I see the tears of a woman begging to God that she would perish after the abuse she received. I see the fist full of rage and revenge from parents’ children being kidnapped and transported across the ocean never to be seen again. I hear the cries of children being stripped from the arms of their home. I hear the horrendous scream of women pleading with their life not to be violated. I feel the suffering of those who had to walk the streets at night in order to survive, in order to live. For themselves, for their family.

Children’s cries are the roaring waves of the ocean during a thunderstorm. Women’s screams are the lighting that strikes the morality of one’s very core. Children were not meant to be used as tractors of mistreatment. Women were not meant to be laid upon like rag dolls of lifelessness. “People were created to be loved, things were created to be used. The reason why the world is in chaos is because things are being loved and people are being used.” -Unknown

Now is the time to realize the disgusting actions of human traffickers around the world. Now is the time to help those children and women in need, the ones who are being violated by disgusting creatures that laughs and grins while committing the horrendous penetrations. Now is the time to make sure that the millions of people around the world are released from the torment they are bond to. We the people, had the world’s greatest countries agreed that “No one shall be held in slavery or servitude,” that “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”

I have a dream that from the lands of Africa, children will be free from warlords invading villages like a lion looking for territory. I have a dream that from the mountains of India, children and women will not be treated and sold like livestock. I have a dream that around the world this injustice will be defeated by women, children, and even men of all ages and culture fighting for the extinguishment of this fire. I have a dream that at the end of the day, this issue will no longer be brushed aside and ignored like a neglected child. “Our lives begin to end the day we became silent about the things that matter.” -Martin Luther King Jr.

    1. Wow! I really love your use of metaphorical imagery. Especially how you said “I hear the horrendous scream of women pleading with their life not to be violated.” This is very true, that women pleads for freedom but still, they were severely treated like they have no heart.

  29. I Have A Dream

I have a question to you, my peers. I have a question that should change your views; your ways. Do you find the inevitable pain of bullying worthy of a voice? “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.” Victims need a voice to look upon. Victims need a voice to feel hope and relief. I see how relentless bullies can be. I hear stories of heinous crimes due to victims not speaking their voice. I have a question to you, my peers! When is it okay for victims to be free of the agonizing feeling of being alone? Victims need a voice to show strength and integrity. My peers! We need to show them we’re here for them. We need to show them the respect of being heard. We need to show them that like a ferocious tiger, they can be powerful. My peers, we need to pay attention to these distressed victims. We need to show them how to be confident and how to resolve their restless pain of the physical/mental abuse and the hateful words. I believe, my peers, that with your help; we could stop these heinous acts of cruelty to poor innocent people. It will end! Over my dead body, will it not end!

    1. I liked your use of the rhetorical technique, allusion. In addition, I agree that we all need voices to stand up for ourselves and for others. Very inspirational speech, great job!

    2. I liked how you compared them to a ferocious tiger. That is a great use of simile. It’s an awesome speech! Good job!

  30. Nuclear Proliferation

Hello my fellow acquaintances it’s been 77 years since World War 2 and the Cold War has been using the nuclear weapons to fight for our country battles and also now even today we have been using the some of the most effective nuclear weapons. This nuclear situation will be forced to change. The citizens of the United States. The citizens of North Korea. The citizens of Russia. The citizens of Afghanistan. The citizens of Iraq.
I’ve heard and researched about the nuclear weapons that are getting transport along all over the nation. I’ve seen some people feared by a nuclear bombing in their own country. I’ve feel the fear and the sadness from all of the citizens that was affected by the nuclear. It’s like a chain of despair as the citizens is looking for the great beacon light of hope trying to avoid the nuclear war.
From the World War 2 to Cold War to Afghanistan to Iran to Iraq we have been using too much nuclear that causes fears and global warnings. It seems that nuclear war end us and we create nuclear war. Now is the time to stand up and stop this nuclear war madness. Now is the time to stop making nuclear weapons. Now is the time to save these citizens that is trying to avoid being these nuclear casualties. Now is the time for all of the countries to stop using the nuclear weapons that will causes global warning and the beginning erase of mankind. ” I Know not world war 3 will be fought, but world war 4 will be sticks and stones”- Albert Einstein.
I have a dream that one day there will be no nuclear wars. I have a dream that there will be no more casualties. I HAVE A DREAM that we as a team, as a citizen, as a nation, will unite to put an end to this nuclear war madness.

    1. Your speech reflects and reminds us of the past. It’s almost as if it’s a warning and a pathway to a better future.

    2. I really like your use of metaphor. For example, “The chain of despair” and “The great beacon light of hope”. Good job on the speech!

  31. We live in a world that is full of hate and discrimination.
In a world that calls people terrorists based on their religion.
In a world where people are classified as good or bad based by their race.
In a world where people get shot because of the color of their skin.
I see the tears of the families of the victims that were taken away by the blades of racism and discrimination.
I hear the cry of desperation that the families let out when they are being taken away by the police.
I feel the pain of those families separated due to the unfairness of deportations or shot by the cruel police.
Immigrants are treated as if they were just a piece of trash from another country.
Blacks are getting killed as if they were something other than a human.
Now is the time that we put an end to this way of life. Now is the time that we learn how to value one another’s race and religion instead of making fun of it. Now is the time that we stop executions based on the people’s choice of religion, that instead we respect the choice of religion that each individual chooses. Like the great Nelson Mandela said “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
I have a dream that one day there will be peace among all the races and all the religions.
I have a dream that immigrants from all over the world will be treated like a human being and not as if they were a piece of trash.
I have a dream that Muslims will no longer be viewed as terrorists simply because they are Muslims.
I HAVE A DREAM that the world will unite as one. With no problems and no wars. When this is done we will have a better United States of America and a better world.

  32. I Have a Voice
We all have a voice, but most of us choose not to use it. Today, I have the chance to use my voice. I want us all to take a moment to look around us. You may notice people who are always smiling, people who claim to be “happy”. Almost 80% of those people aren’t okay and out of that 80%, about 70% are getting bullied.

Bullying happens every day, everywhere, anytime, causing people to shut everyone out; the deadly cries of silence. Bullying is like making a deal with the devil. I see people ending their precious lives, meeting the horrors of death. I hear people crying inside, trying to convince themselves everything will be okay, that it’ll all be over soon. I feel the need to help protect all. No one should ever be put down. Bullying is a knife to someone’s heart. It is deadly. Some may find it amusing but they don’t know what it can do to those who are getting bullied. It’s never right. The percentage of bullying increases like the percentage of people who are starving.

They say that you should treat people the way you want to be treated. It breaks my heart that how one says that, but yet they still criticize others. We must find a way to help, to support, to protect these victims. Although, this fight will be like walking through the flames of hell. It will be a very difficult task. But we all must come together, as one. As one to help the ones in need from ending their lives due to what someone says to them. Due to what others tell them. Due to what others place in their minds. Lives are extremely precious. It cannot be given away. It is what we all have once. We must keep them all safe. Everyone’s life matters.

Now is the time to stop bullying. Now is the time to stop discrimination. Now is the time to hold hands and accept each other as they are. Like the great Martin Luther King Jr., we all must stop bullying.

I have a dream that one day, bullying will be like the storm that just passes by. I have a dream that bullying can end forever like the dark ages. I HAVE A DREAM WE CAN ALL COME TOGETHER AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

So, use your voice, the beautiful symphony of a voice. We all have one for a reason. Speak up for yourself. Don’t be afraid, be a risk-taker. Don’t continue having a fixed mindset. HAVE A GROWTH MINDSET!!

    1. i enjoyed the part where you said “We all have a voice, but most of us choose not to use it”. i felt like i connected to this so well and it made me think about how true this is and how different the world could be if we all just used our voice, good job!

    2. Your essay adresses a problem not everyone notice. I agree with your statement that 70-80% of students are not happy

    3. “They say that you should treat people the way you want to be treated. It breaks my heart that how one says that, but yet they still criticize others,” this line is so bright and true. Your speech depicts how dark of an attitude the human being can have. Your speech is very enlightening!

    4. Koua,

Your speech is an impassioned plea for understanding and compassion. I really like your image of “deadly cries of silence,” which is an interesting comparison. I’ve never thought about silence as a cry for help, but I am now. Great ideas!

      Coey
